This session is aimed at managers, supervisors or mentors of young people employed within the Council via the Corporate Apprenticeship Scheme or on placement via the Looked After Children’s Traineeship Scheme or other trainee and apprenticeship arrangements across the Council. These schemes support all 4 Corporate Priorities: “better education for all”, “supporting vulnerable people”, “creating more jobs and better paid jobs”, and “working together to transform services”.
A key part in delivering these is upskilling the workforce to ensure the placements secured for our Apprentices and Trainees are the best they can be. For most young people, having someone in work to support and encourage them will boost confidence and supports their development. Additionally, feeling safe is a priority for Looked After Children and having a suitable trusted adult mentoring them and developing a good relationship with them is vital to ensuring that they maintain and are successful in their placements.
